Alpex Americano

DESPITE THE NAME, THIS COCKTAIL WAS NOT BORN IN THE US, BUT IN ITALY, AND IS MADE ENTIRELY WITH ITALIAN INGREDIENTS. NOW MORE THAN EVER, WITH ALPEX SODA WATER.

Its roots go back to 1860, when in the Bar Gaspare Campari in Milan, mixing bitters from Milan and vermouth of Turin, they created the Milano Torino cocktail, particularly appreciated by American tourists who requested it with soda added.
The Americano today is an essential classic at aperitif time.
Aside from the basic bitters and vermouth, the secret is all in the soda.
The Alpex Premium Classic Soda Water, with its persistent sparkling and a perfectly balanced flavour, marks the difference between a watered-down Milano Torino and a true American.

Bartender’s tips

1 The name of the cocktail puts people in mind of the typically American way of drinking “on the rocks”, so make sure that the glass is always filled with ice.

2 Want to give your Americano a unique touch? Add two dashes of your favourite bitters!

3 As an alternative to the more well-known brands, you can customize the cocktail with the bitters and vermouths of your choice.

Food Pairing

Salami. Choose cured meats, preferably of Italian origin, like the ingredients of the Americano Alpex.
Crostino with squacquerone, with extra virgin olive oil and a basil leaf.
Cardamom rice. Basmati rice scented with cardamom, a spice with a wonderful scent and a fresh and light flavour, adds freshness to the cocktail and brings out its sparklingness even more.
